Privacy Policy

Overview

Marked Share is a web service that stores and publishes Markdown documents you choose to upload or publish. This policy describes what information we collect and how we use it. The Marked macOS application has a separate privacy policy; this policy applies to the Marked Share website and API at share.markedapp.com and document hosting at markedb.in.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted password. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides for authentication. We also store a display name and profile slug if you configure them.

Document content

Documents you publish or upload are stored on our servers, including Markdown source, rendered HTML, metadata, and any images or assets you attach. Private documents are accessible only to you and API tokens you authorize. Public and unlisted documents may be viewed by anyone with the link.

Usage and technical data

We collect standard server logs including IP address, browser type, request timestamps, and pages accessed. Session cookies keep you signed in. API requests are logged for security and debugging.

• Authenticate you and manage your account
• Respond to support requests
• Protect against abuse and unauthorized access
• Improve reliability and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal information or document content to third parties.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Passwords are hashed; API tokens are stored as digests. We use HTTPS for all connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Third-Party Services

Sign in with Apple is subject to Apple's privacy policy. Our hosting infrastructure providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We do not use third-party advertising trackers on the Service.

Your Rights

You can:

• Access and update your account information in Settings
• Delete documents from your library at any time
• Request account deletion by contacting support
• Control document visibility (private, unlisted, or public)

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
